Course Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

• Differentiate between piezoelectric and magnetostrictive ultrasonic technologies
• Select appropriate piezo tips based on clinical indications
• Demonstrate safe and effective piezo instrumentation techniques
• Utilize ultrasonic technology to support minimally invasive periodontal therapy
• Increase confidence and efficiency in clinical ultrasonic instrumentation

Hands-On Instrumentation Techniques

Participants will practice directly on each other while learning:

• Proper fulcrum and adaptation
• Insertion techniques
• Power and water adjustments
• Efficient stroke patterns
• Pressure control and lateral adaptation
• Techniques for maximizing patient comfort

Clinical Tricks & Real-World Application

This course goes beyond theory and focuses on practical clinical implementation, including:

• Common mistakes clinicians make with ultrasonics
• How to improve calculus detection while using ultrasonics
• Combining ultrasonics with hand instrumentation effectively
• Understanding when to use ultrasonics vs. hand scaling
